Schooling

Alex regularly rides a number of clients’ horses to assist in progressing their training. This includes riding the horse alongside coaching the rider to help address particular challenges or stages in the training or conducting full training sessions in place of the regular rider. Alex also assists clients with introducing young or inexperienced horses to their first taste of competition.

Young horse education

Extensive experience breaking and starting of young horses, having taken numerous horses through the ranks from unbroken to competing at 2*, 3* and 4* level.

Alex's approach to working with young horses ensures the initial training is undertaken the right way and the fundamentals are properly established to provide a secure and correct baseline to build on. The benefits will then continue to be seen as you progress further up through the ranks in your chosen discipline.

What some happy students say:

"I can highly recommend Alex. Super dedicated and extremely committed to help you become the best rider you can be. I also love that Alex would be happy to hop on your horse to assess if needed. Thanks Alex I love my lessons and even when I get pushed you still make me laugh"

- Asa C.

"My lessons with Alex have helped build my rapport with my horse and given my confidence a boost when I was low. She brings out the best in me as a rider and my horse has never gone better."

- Tailah L.

"Alex is a fantastic trainer. She understands thoroughbreds and knows how to get the best out of them."

- Anita F.

"I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to train with Alex. Her experience and approach to horses is invaluable and without her my young OTTB would not be the confident and forward horse he currently is. Alex has set the bar for me now with what I look for in a trainer and I doubt I will ever find anyone who matches her.

Alex Brown came into our lives by fortuitous chance in my early days as an anxious, first-time horse owner. My green young quarter-horse had grown up on a cattle farm and was lacking in experience and education. After 18 months together, I couldn't be happier with the results. My cow-chaser has been transformed. He has learned how to carry himself beautifully and his progress has drawn the admiration of many. Alex has been so patient with my sweet boy and she has been so supportive and reassuring. He looks fabulous, his musculature has improved, structural issues have resolved, and he is so much more comfortable and responsive. I'm so pleased we found her. I couldn't have wished for a better match for us.
